From Malta to Madrid The Women Are On Fire

I’ve been keeping a close eye on a few players lately, and it’s been brilliant to watch. There are two in particular who are really standing out right now and just keep putting results together.

Angela Rogan has been on a serious run. She took down the Ladies Event at the Malta Poker Festival, hosted by Amber Sullivan, who is a crusher in her own right. Since then, Angela hasn’t slowed down as she’s is currently out in Madrid playing the PartyPoker event and has already gone deep again, finishing 33rd in the Mini Main.

And this wasn’t just any event it was the biggest tournament on the tour to date, with 918 entries and a €114,750 prize pool, smashing the €50,000 guarantee. That’s a proper field, and Angela holding her own in that shows exactly where her game is at right now. And honestly, it feels like she’s only warming up.

Then there’s Shella McSweeney, who just keeps delivering. She took down the Galway Women’s Event back in January, followed it up with an incredible 2nd place in the Kings & Queens at the Irish Open, and recently put together another deep run in the Monster Main Event finishing 14th out of 1,986 entries for €2,900, with a massive €324,110 prize pool.

These are the kind of results we love to see. Not just one-off scores, but players building momentum, gaining confidence, and proving they can compete across different events and fields.

Long may it continue.
