Game On as CoinPoker set to Level Up with New Platform

Crypto poker site Coinpoker is launching a new platform on March 2, 2026, which has been described as a full revamp with new software, rather than an upgrade of the existing client. The launch has been teased as a “Level Up” and the most significant upgrade in the site’s history.

Exact details are a closely guarded secret, with Coinpoker revealing limited information about the scope of the changes, including the signing of one of poker’s biggest “celebrities.” But what is certain is that the migration to the new platform signals the end of an era for Coinpoker as a niche site, with the goal of becoming one of the largest poker sites in the world now the obvious target.

What is Known About the Upgrade?

While exact details are still under wraps until after the weekend, Coinpoker has already alluded to some of the changes, without revealing specifics. Let’s take a look at what is known so far and try to piece together what it all might mean.

New Software

This is the key change and it’s something that Coinpoker has been rumoured to be working on for quite some time. At this point, it’s no longer a rumour, the migration to the new client will take place on Monday 2nd March.

The new software is expected to be a brand new piece of kit, a shiny new online poker site developed for the modern era, with none of the clunky software legacy headaches that restrict more established sites. Many new features are said to be included as well as an expanded range of game formats.

The exact look and feel of the new client hasn’t been revealed and no screenshots have been released ahead of the launch, with the site encouraging players to check it out for themselves when it goes live. It’s been teased as having a “futuristic” interface, designed for both recreational and more experienced players. As per the current offering, it will have cross-platform support, available on Windows, Mac, Android and iOS.

Game Selection

Up until now, CoinPoker has spread Hold’em, Omaha and 5-Card Omaha and although no news has leaked regarding which formats might be added, an expansion beyond the industry staple of NLH/PLO is widely expected. A limited roll out of mixed game variants and specialities like Open Face Chinese seems likely, in addition to widening the range of Hold’em variants, such as short-deck, which is already very popular within the high roller community.

Although Coinpoker has been very cash game focused for much of its existence, a push to become a more mainstream site is highly likely to include significant upgrades to its tournament offering.  Cash games are expected to maintain their place as a significant driver of activity, with the site already known for hosting the Cash Game World Championships.

Coinpoker did have a 3-handed lottery style product called Cosmic Spins, where players compete with a random multiplier of as much as 1,000 x the initial buy-in, but it was discontinued in late 2024. It seems highly likely that some kind of revamped spins product will be a part of Coinpoker’s plans for the future, even if not rolled out in the initial relaunch.

Loyalty Program

The other significant upgrade that players can expect is an overhaul of Coinpoker’s loyalty program, with the as-yet unrevealed new rewards program being described in communications to existing players as being on an unprecedented level. The existing program includes a 150% deposit bonus and rake back but the changes are likely to be more than simply a northward hike of the headline numbers.

Ambassador Speculation

Coinpoker already has several ambassadors, such as Patrick Leonard, Mario Mosbock, Bencb, Gary Blackwood, Nik Airball and John “apestyles” Van Fleet. Already in 2026, Johan “YohViral” Guilbert has signed and there is expectation that the team will be expanded further, with several “high profile” ambassadors set to join the roster.

Whether these announcements coincide with the launch of the new platform remains to be seen, but it has been confirmed that one of the ambassadors who will join in March is one of the biggest names in the poker world.

Most of the ambassadors that the site has used so far have been primarily cash game players and that could also be the defining characteristic of this unknown new ambassador. While Coinpoker hasn’t given any further cryptic clues about the identity of its most high profile signing, let’s speculate for a moment on who else could get snapped up and who the most high profile signing might be?

Joining the CoinPoker Team?

Charlie Carrell has done some streaming for Coinpoker over the last 18 months and is primarily a cash game player. He’s been strongly linked with the site, participating in high stakes cash game streaming sessions and inviting his social media audience to join him on the site. His cooperation has been more one of partnership than full-on sponsored pro, but there’s a strong possibility he will be formalised as a fully badged up ambassador as part of the expansion of the team.

Paul Carr may not have achieved global recognition yet, but he has been the star performer on the Irish Poker Tour, winning the Player of the Year trophy two times in the last three years. Two things count against him in this respect, the fact that he’s best known as a tournament player and the small inconvenience of him already representing another online brand. While it’s not unknown for players to switch teams in the poker sponsorship world, it seems unlikely that he will be among the names that are soon-to-be-announced.

Caitlin Comeskey, who was recently dropped as an ambassador for PokerStars might be a good fit for the brand, with her unique comedic approach to content production perhaps opening doors for Coinpoker to expand beyond its cash game focused streaming approach.

Who is the High Profile Signing?

Moving into the territory of who the big name reveal might be, two names stand out as possibilities.

Jesse Lonis is the first of these. He was the biggest earner in tournament poker in 2025, cashing for $13.3m and won the 2025 Cardplayer Player of the Year, a title already sponsored by Coinpoker. Despite his successes in high stakes poker tournaments, he began his poker career as a cash game player, making him a potential good fit to be the mystery signing.

Another player who also excels in the Super High Roller Triton Series is Patrik Antonius. The Finnish legend has been one of the biggest names in the game for two decades and was inducted into the WSOP Hall of Fame in 2024. He would fit the Coinpoker ambassador profile very well, as a first-and-foremost cash game player and has recently teased that he will shortly be announcing a new sponsor. Could it be him?

Shift Towards Acceptance of Crypto Gambling

Tim Miller, the UK Gambling Commission’s Executive Director of Research and Policy gave a speech just this week indicating that there will be a shift in the UK’s crypto currency guidelines, leaning towards allowing licensed gambling sites to accept crypto currency as payment.

This shift towards crypto acceptance isn’t limited to the UK market, with crypto gambling already legal in several European countries (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Germany and Malta) and others now contemplating formalising its regulation.

While Coinpoker doesn’t operate as an onshore brand, the timing of this news may open the door for the site to exist within the UK’s regulated gaming market, in the not too distant future. If similar moves are made in other countries, perhaps as a measure to reduce the flow of traffic to unregulated offshore sites, Coinpoker’s addressable market may widen significantly over the next few years.

The decision to invest in new software in advance of potential changes to crypto gambling’s status across the continent, puts Coinpoker in a strong position to achieve growth and reap benefits, if and when regulated markets embrace crypto payments.
