Summer seems to have arrived across most of continental Europe, but here in Manchester the weather has decided that there is absolutely no need for all that sun and heat, and rightly so because things are definitely warming up in Casino Manchester 235 as the first day of PartyPoker Tour Manchester got underway.

At 4pm, the £150 Mini Main Event with £50,000 GTD kicked off. Day 1A attracted a total of 123 entries, with 18 players making it through to Day 2. Familiar faces included PartyPoker Tour Team member and Hearts of Queens Founder Natalie Bromley. The top chip leaders of this flight were Cieran Tighe with 686,000 chips, Peter Turner with 539,000 chips and Richard Mackay with 376,000 chips.

At 7pm, the first of Poker.PRO’s branded tournaments, the PL Sviten Special, was back. The event attracted a total of 45 players, generating a prize pool of £2,250 and showing that Manchester has a hunger for mixed games. The first trophy of the week was won by Lewis Henderson, who also collected £700 in prize money. Congratulations, Lewis!

At 9pm, the first event of the PLO Masters series, the Saturday Party Madness Courchevel Bounty, commenced. The event attracted a total of 36 entries and generated a prize pool of £900. Ultimately, it was Bevon Baptiste who took home the glory and the trophy.
