Party Poker Tour Manchester First Weekend Down
Manchester is known for many things, but one of its most significant claims to fame is being the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution. The city’s Bridgewater Canal, the world’s first industrial canal, helped fuel Manchester’s rapid growth by transporting coal from nearby mines. Much like the canal in its heyday, Casino Manchester235 was channelling a constant flow of people yesterday, this time poker players rather than coal, as Day 2 of the PartyPoker Tour got underway.
At 4 pm, Day 1B of the £150 Mini Main Event with £50,000 GTD commenced, attracting 65 entries, with 10 players making it through to Day 2. Familiar faces included previous PartyPoker Tour Manchester Mini Main Event winner Ion Oprea, but he exited in 17th place. Does this mean he will re-enter today? The top chip leaders in this flight were Gerald McSorley with 498,000 chips, Chris Allen with 400,000 chips and Joshua Price with 387,000 chips.
At 7 pm, the PLO Masters 4/5/6 Bounty kicked off. The event attracted a total of 68 entries, generating a £5,100 prize pool. Familiar faces included Bevon Baptiste, who won the PLO Masters Saturday Party Madness Courchevel Bounty, as well as a particularly fun story picked up by our very own Poker.PRO’s Christoffer Karlén.
Caroline Cove, who ultimately came in 4th place, was playing Day 1A of the £150 Mini Main Event, but moved all in without looking at her cards before the first break. She just didn’t want to miss the PLO. That is dedication, I’d say.
It wasn’t Caroline’s day, though, as it was ultimately Thales Salomao who picked up the trophy, glory and £1,485 in prize money.
At 8:15 pm, the Netherlands vs Japan 2026 Football World Cup game started. This meant that all prediction slips had been entered. Chris Allen, who happens to be the 2nd chip leader from Day 1B, took home the well-earned Mini Main Event entry.
