Donal’s Corner – Triumphant Return Home For David Mulvany

Galway Main Event Champion, David Mulvany, was greeted by an ecstatic crowd of well-wishers when he brought his trophy into his home club in Tullamore. David’s great win exemplifies everything that the Irish Poker Tour is about; it saw a fine recreational player win a Main Event entry and hotel package through a €20 Last Longer at the Dublin Winter Festival and roll that all the way to €70,000 and the coveted Galway Poker Festival Champion’s title.

Amazing. Well done Dave. May there be many more stories like this to come.

IPT Goes on Mid-West Swing

And back to the beginning again.

The Tour is back on the road and heading to the Mid-West over the next two weekends. First up is the €30k in a Day in Limerick’s Castletroy Park Hotel on Saturday 24th of January. The new format for one-dayers incorporating a second ‘Hyper’ flight proved to be enormously popular at the last stop in Portlaoise so, once again, there will be a standard 30 minute flight starting at 13:00 with a second, 15 minute flight, starting at 18:30. The survivors of both flights will join together to fight it out for the minimum €30,000 payout, starting at 21:00.

After that it is just a short spin down the road to Charleville for the expanded Munster Poker Festival which runs from Friday 30th of January to Bank Holiday Monday 2nd February. Despite being buffeted by Storm Eowyn, last year’s Festival was a huge success and the availability of the St. Bridget’s holiday has meant that the Main Event guarantee is now a whopping €100,000 for a €250 entry. The Charleville Park is a very comfortable hotel with welcoming staff and great food; making it a perfect venue for a poker festival weekend.

See you all on the road.
