The Monster 2025 wraps up

Tuesday, May 6th, 9:13am

Final Day, what more do we need to say. With players from over 36 different countries making up the roster of the festival it truly has been a treat to behold. Shortly after the Irish Open it was never in doubt that what the IPT had to offer would appeal to the masses. Players from France, Sweden, Mongolia, America, Holland, Bolivia, Vietnam and India to name a few have created an enigmatic experience that you will only find at these events.

The day kicked off with the last chance for people to qualify for the Main Event in the form of the The Monster Main Event Day 1K HYPER, with 125 entries a further 31 players made it through to the final.

It was then time to kick off proceedings for the one everyone had been waiting for. Starting at 1pm The Monster Main Event Final Day. With 2,101 entries registered for the tournament and 282 securing a bag to take through.

As always, the atmosphere was tense, exciting and a joy to be part of. The time ticked away to the point in every Main Event that players and onlookers are keeping an eye on. Eager to see who would make it so far and walk away with nothing leaving the rest of the field to battle out for the prize pool. The unfortunate bubble boy of the tournament was David Conroy.

As the Main Event was getting down to the latter stages, the IPT knew that there would always be players still eager to test their wits out. The MonsterStack got underway with 243 entries and a prize pool of €39,660. There were some exciting moments, which even took focus from the Main Event at a stage, when the final 5 players deliberated on deal. Two black cards were turned over meaning play continued. In the end it finished with a 3-way deal, Jamie Byrne secured €6,000 coming 3rd, Sylvain Pauls came 2nd also banking €6,000. With Glenn Davies taking home the trophy and €8,450.

The Omaha 4 Card saw 27 entries playing for a prize pool of €4,407. A theme began developing on the floor and this also resulted in a 3-way deal with Jude McCarthy, Simon Keating and Duane McDonnell all taking home €1,330 with Mayo native Duane taking home the trophy.

The Farewell Freezeout saw 41 entries signing up battling for a prize pool of €4,920. A deal was almost brokered when it came down to the last 2. But David Ward opted to play on. In the following hand a pair of 2’s meant he came 2nd to Mark Doyle who took home the trophy and €1,750, Mark who is no stranger to the IPT won a trophy at the same venue last year. The home town advantage must play a part for Mark. David took home €1,050 in 2nd, with Tony Boulfroy taking home €820 in 3rd.

The Main Event was progressing to its final stages and when it got down to the final 5 the desire for players to do deals must have been in the air. A 5-way ICM was called resulting in Ronan McCarthy taking home the trophy and €31,200, the next 4 places went to Matt Doyle banking €25,300 in 2nd then Daniel Croft in 3rd taking €23,030 next up was Patrick Galvin €22,200 in 4th and Gavin Quinn in 5th took home €20,000. The scenes at the final table were great to see with players all very happy to be walking away with a share of the remaining prize pool.

Well, that’s all folks, yet another fantastic event whipped up by the IPT. Thank you to all the staff at the Green Isle Dublin and of course all the IPT team for cultivating an experience that may be imitated but never replicated. As anyone that has had the pleasure of attending an IPT will wholeheartedly attest to.

See you the next time, Siege of Clonmel III, Friday, May 23, 2025 – Sunday, May 25, 2025
