Easter is Over, The Monster is Coming
I’ve said before that Easter is one of my favourite times of the year; the Irish Open dominates the Irish poker scene at that time so the Irish Poker Tour is guaranteed to take a short break and I can book my holidays early. This year I visited Georgia which is a spectacularly wild part of south-western Asia dominated by snow-capped mountains and sweeping valleys.
Georgia’s main claim to fame is that they invented wine approximately 8,000 years ago when some nomads forgot where they had stored their grape harvest underground. When the lads rediscovered their grapes a year later they had fermented and something wonderful had happened. I can attest that in the intervening years Georgians have perfected their skills whilst developing one of the world’s great cuisines. It’s probably not a coincidence that they are some of the friendliest and most welcoming people that I have ever met, do not pass up on the chance to visit if you ever get one.
Meanwhile, back in Clondalkin, The Monster approaches. One of the outstanding highlights of the IPT calendar, The Monster boasts an enormous €250,000 guarantee for a paltry €200 buy-in. Huge prizes, wild action and a tremendous, light-hearted atmosphere are all absolute certainties at the Green Isle Hotel from Thursday April 30th through to Bank Holiday Monday May 4th.

€100K For €100 – Day 3 Wrap
The third day of the €100K for €100 Festival got underway at the Green Isle Hotel, Dublin, with the poker room alive with energy and anticipation. Taking place the weekend before St. Patrick’s Day, the festival coincided with a busy weekend for Irish sports fans, as Ireland was battling it out in the Six Nations. The stage was perfectly set for another action-packed day of poker.
The day began with €100K for €100 Main Event Day 1E, where 243 entries battled for a spot in the final. With roars coming from the bar as players took breaks to watch the rugby, 24 players made it through to the next stage. From this flight it was Eduardo Wohlke, who bagged up the biggest stack with 645,000.
Next up was the Saturday Omaha 250 which attracted 29 players creating a prize pool of €7,500. Yet again Omaha regular Zeik Tuit was unable to make it through to the final stages, as well as last night’s winner of the Omaha, Mark Buckley. When it got down to the final table, a prize pool adjustment was agreed upon meaning fourth place would also receive a payout. Dennis Mendonca finished in fourth place, taking home €400. Dylon Melly secured third place with €1,400, while Zula Zula came in second, winning €2,000. The victory went to Aleksandras Nagreckis, who claimed the top prize of €3,400, and was very happy to secure his first IPT trophy.

The €100K for €100 Main Event Day 1F was the second flight of the day. Featuring 362 entries this added to the ever-growing prize pool for the Main Event. From this flight there were 42 players who bagged up. Conor Scanlon was the chip leader with 710,000.
Later in the afternoon, the Saturday €10K NLH 1A got underway which had 45 entries. From this field 10 players made it through to the final stage of this event which was to be settled on the day. The Saturday €10K NLH 1B Hyper was the other flight for this event which saw a further 23 try their luck. From them 5 players were able to last the distance and secure a spot in the final.
The last flight of the day was the €100K for €100 Main Event Day 1G, which had 268 entries bringing the overall prize pool for the Main Event, past the guarantee and sitting at €113,965 with still one more flight to be played. From this field there were 33 players who made it through. The biggest stack brought forward was with Mark Byrne who had 659,000.
The night concluded with the Saturday €10K NLH Final, in total 15 players had made it through, Mark Johnston brought forward the biggest stack (230,000). Unfortunately, he was unable to hold onto the lead and exited before the final table. As play progressed, it got down to four players remaining and an ICM deal was agreed upon, with play continuing for €450 and the trophy. In the end it was James Walsh who came fourth taking €2,015. Third was Patrick Walsh who banked €2,055. Eoin Berry finished second for €2,130. Taking home the trophy and €2,250 was Sean Harper.

With one more flight of the Main Event still to come, the €100K for €100 Festival Main Event Final is just around the corner. Make sure to stay tuned to livepokerupdates for all the drama as it unfolds.
